Holiday Madness

By Angela W Posted in Daily Life / 6 Comments »

So among the normal things for the holidays like shopping, wrapping presents, and visiting friends and family I baked about 6 batches of dog biscuits in a variety of flavors (charcoal, pumpkin, milkbone, gingerbread, peanut butter, and good boy) to hand out to the local pooches. hey went over very well, but I was a bit tired. Luckily the boys both unwrap their own gifts. Tim, however, labeled them backwards despite the names being written on the boxes. The gifts, both edible and not, were a hit.

NILIF for Puppy Parents

Times are hard and earning enough to pay for kibble and class isn’t easy when you are stuck at home. Fortunately there are other ways to earn money than working retail or going to the office. One of the newest ventures I have tried is Pay Per Post.com. PPP as it is called pays for sponsored blog posts. While many of them are for marketing and products unrelated to HB Puppy but I hope to find enough to make ends meet. The site is easy to navigate and they have video help which makes it easy to read and understand what to do when getting started.

Hopefully I can make some great contacts to network with and make enough to pay for a vet visit or obedience class on top of kibble each month*. I’ve certainly heard great things about them, and some of their top earners have made over ten thousand dollars for writing paid blogs. As a new “postie” I am rather pleased with the experience so far. So many sites are overly complicated and image heavy. PPP is easy to navigate and not hard at all to figure out how to get your blog registered so you can start working. Registration only took about a day, which is much faster than some directories. PPP is pleasant to look at with bright colors and lots of options. Wish me luck!

*Maybe if I do really good I can get a newer computer and then I will have no excuse to get behind as it won’t take as long to get work done. Won’t that be nice. Boris might appreciate me buying some new running shoes though. Tough choice.

Dogster.com

Somehow I managed to navigate my way through cyber space to dogster.com this past week while taking a bit of a break from work and such. Its a very lovely site with more features than I currently can understand at this point. But you get to make profiles for your dogs and they can be friends with each other which leads me to think its kind of like MySpace for dogs. I filled out information for both the boys. In my spare time I will be getting around to exploring more. I really will I swear.

Back to the Grindstone

So after all the fuss ad hustle and bustle of the holidays its back to work for the puppy. Class is back in session tonight and I can’t wait. He needs some work and I haven’t been able to work with him as much as I’d like. We have worked on manners ALOT. Not jumping on people, using the doorbell to potty, laying down in the crate until told its ok to come out. He’s doing ok on stuff, but not stellar. Two weeks between classes kind of stinks, but these things happen in the winter, eh.

He’s been an angel about walking on the Gentle Leader which is a break through. He’s not as good for Tim, but what else is new? He’s almost got the idea of using the doorbell to go out. Sometimes he goes flying t the door, bashes it with his nose and plops down, other times he runs in circles and tinkles the whole time. but at least we’re getting closer to the right idea.we have also been letting him out on the tie-out to potty.Which normally doesn’t work since he gets distracted by leaves, snow, and noises instead. He can be out for 20mins and come back in and tinkle on the doormat because he forgot to go.

MIA

Sorry the blog has been a bit empty lately, its been snowing here for the past week or so, every couple of days so I’ve been busy shoveling and salting. I’ve also been out working with Boris on walking properly and had planned to update after class last night when we got to see if it paid off, but it was canceled due to snow. I’ve got some video to upload, some products and sites to review and that should be up tonight or tomorrow for the most part. Cheers.
