Double Collared

By Angela W Posted in Observations / No Comments »

So one of the strangest things Boris is doing right now is wearing two collars. He has his tags on his Milkbone collar he got for Christmas. Unfortunately the clasp on it pops when he pulls so it can’t be used for putting him outside. He broke his Halloween one that way already. So he is wearing his Christmas collar we just bought him even though its bright green and totally clashes. Its kid of like the stacked bangle bracelet look only the puppy with collars.

Hopefully we can fix the green one to look better or find a different buckle collar to let him wear cause he looks rather “special” as it is right now. But better odd looking than running loose in the neighborhood like a nut.

The Great Outdoors

So while Boris’s mom and dad don’t hunt themselves they do live in a rather hunter-friendly area and know plenty of people who love nothing more than to spend the weekend freezing their butts off to hope to bag a nice buck. One of the things the real die hards use is a Game Feeder. Now there are game feeders, and there are game feeders. And the Hunting and Recreational Business mall sells some beauties by Texas Hunter.

Texas Hunter makes beautiful powder coated galvanized steel hoppers and digital timers, and varmit guards for their hoppers. They also make a directional fish feeder, which honestly might be the coolest thing I’ve ever seen. Hunting is serious business up here, and if you have the resources to use a Game Feeder these are a good choice. And since Hunting and Recreational Business Mall is the world’s largest distributor of Texas Hunter gear they offer competitive prices and factory direct shipping. If you like your galvanized feeder or are a do it yourself type you might be better at the local Agway, but for a

Puppy Pedicure

Today Boris went over to our neighbor who runs Alpha Dog Grooming to have his nails done. Despite the rivers and moats of slush he happily ran about as we walked over there and ran into he shop and bounced about sniffing everything. He sniffed the dogs in the cage drying, he sniffed the tables, and he sniffed Candy (who owns and runs Alpha Dog). Proving that he is just being a brat at home he let her pop on a holding collar and hook him up to the grooming table and clip his nails in under ten minutes. Mind you the last time I clipped his nails I had to wrestle for 30mins before he laid down and let me. After he ran about for a bit while we chatted and I wrote out the check. On the way home Boris pulled me across the moat on the end of the driveway. So we stayed outside and shoveled the driveway since my shoes were already soaked. Worked well though as it was fairly mild out and the snow melted where I shoveled.

After we got inside he laid down on the chair and took a nap but kept falling off so decided to sleep on Cherokee instead. I brought the second dog bed out of the bedroom and put his blanket on it and he took a nice long nap on there instead. Not a bad day all in all and some good socialization in too.

Photo Ops

Today I finally got around to unloading my memory card and getting the pictures uploaded and cropped and such. I got a couple nice ones of Boris and I this morning. At least compared to the ones I tried to take last time. And since I just scored 95 free prints from CVS I guess I’ll be getting some of them to give to the grandparents.

Other Fun Things

Sometimes its nice to get away from a hyper, needy puppy. One of the things Boris’s dad has done since he was younger is play paintball. After all its not as dangerous as going to the shooting range and just as much fun. Plus you can shoot your friends. We haven’t gone since last summer but we have a blast when we get the chance to go play.

This year we are looking to upgrade some of our equipment for some spyder paintball equipment. While we’ve done ok with the paintball equipment we have its always nice to upgrade a piece or two. While we normally pay high fees from the paintball field we play at (unless we get lucky and find something used) this year we are looking further to find a more economical way to buy our paintball equipment. And we found the perfect place. Ultimate Paintball not only has good prices but they offer free shipping on qualifying orders over $99. And not just cheap economy shipping, but the same regular UPS shipping they normally offer. They even carry grenades and mines. With some nice equipment from them we may just win this year.

TV, My Puppy and Me?

By Angela W Posted in Puppy TV / No Comments »

I received an e-mail from Dogster.com the other day telling me about a new possible reality show from CBS called America’s Top Dog (working title) and immediately sent in a quick application e-mail. I received one back asking that we download and fill out the regular one (all 18 pages-ugh) and another later that day about calling to speak to someone. We called back, well Tim did, and printed out the application to fill out. We faxed it yesterday and will hear back in a week or so to see if we will make it to the next step in the process. So keep your paws crossed.
