Spring is Here!

And Boris couldn’t be more excited. Since I have been hoping to get more in shape from having a dog to exercise I have been walking to get the mail around lunch time again. Its not as long of a walk as he would like, but its just enough to get the blood moving and not take too long of a break after eating to get distracted from work. And its really easy to get distracted from work when the sun is shining and the breeze is blowing and the birds are singing…but if I want to continue to justify working from home at all (although I’d love a part time or full time job that wouldn’t interfere with that) I need to get as much done as I possibly can. Now that we have PR2 its easier but I could still stand to make another couple hundred a month to fit the rent monthly into my salary.

Things That Move

Yesterday on our walk to get the mail we encountered a turtle next to the frog pond. Now the entire time the frogs were out we didn’t see any and the noise didn’t interest Boris, but  the small turtle trying to slide into the mud was apparently fascinating. He stood and barked at it and tried to convince it to play until it buried itself in the reeds. It was rather cute compared to the snapping turtles we normally see this time or year, not to mention safer.

Boris was of course sad it didn’t want to play. I hated to tell him it wouldn’t have been much fun, being slow and all, lol.

Wanna Cuddle?

By Angela W Posted in Daily Life / No Comments »

Today Boris seemed to decide we don’t do enough cuddling in the house. He crawled all over Cherokee and insisted on sharing the bed closest to the window that was in the sun most of the day. Cherokee for once decided it wasn’t worth snarling at him and let him cuddle, and even chew in his ear on his bone. It was rather cute until Cherokee farted and Bo stuck his nose up Cherokee’s butt. Cute moment ruined, lol. But at least it was a nice, rather quiet day.

The Thrill of the Arena

Despite the fact that spring is barely upon us, we are looking ahead to bigger and better things. One of the things that has always meant summer/fall to me is when the rodeo comes to town. I have always loved the rodeo. It comes with such diversity of events.

One of the best rodeos I have had the pleasure of attending is the  NFR, or National Finals Rodeo.  Sponsored by Wrangler Jeans, the one true jean brand for cowboys, it is also know as the World Series of Rodeo and the Superbowl of Rodeo and is held at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas.  Being such a popular event all seats for all events sell out quickly, so securing Wrangler National Finals Rodeo tickets can be incredibly hard.

I had the pleasure of watching the barrel racing event one year we were traveling cross country. Even having been a horseback rider since I was 11, its pure magic to watch the competition.  And the fact that women got to compete was even better.  I’ve always wanted to attend again, especially more than one event. Watching it on TV just isn’t the same.  Think if I ask Santa he’ll let me have Wrangler National Finals Rodeo tickets early? I’ve been extra good this year raising a puppy. He likes watching rodeos on TV.

And We’ve got Pagerank

Thats right, after all these months of hard work and trial and error we have page rank. I am so proud I could burst and actually spent the day dancing about and skipping I was so gleeful. Its now time to get some serious revisions done such as finally editing this theme or finding a new one, and creating a logo.

I’m also throwing about the idea of buying a domain and marketing the fleece toys I make for the boys as well as Boris’s Boo Biscuits, with a portion of profits going to Homeward Bound. Since I’m no longer sitting on PR0 its less scary to worry about buying a site that never gets traffic.

The Vittles Vault

We have our spare 40lb Pro Plan container full of dog food as well out in the living room. Its mostly wet food and weighs a ton at this point. We had more but recently got around to mixing and filling the boy’s regular containers. We used 4 bags of Goodlife (2 puppy, 2 adult) and two bags of Organic food (1 puppy, 1 adult) and a couple bags of Iams (1 puppy, 1 weight loss adult) and a bag of senior Nutro to make a nice mixture. Kind of looks like cereal with all the different shapes and colors. Cost about $20 for 40lbs. Still left are:

2-8lb bags of Pro Plan (1 puppy, one senior weight management)

6-lg cans Science Diet (2 puppy, 3 senior)

4-huge cans Alpo Chop House

1-can Mighty Dog

1-pouch Nutro

17-tubs of Beneful (BOGO sets)

We saw the BOGO sets of Beneful at Walmart and immediately started snapping them up. Two tubs for 1.57 is pretty good and Cherokee adores them when he’s not feeling well. Of course now that we have so many Tim has started sneaking more wet food into dinners.  And they say moms spoil their kids, lol.
