Happy Birthday Boris!

Sunday July 13, 2008 was Boris’s first birthday. Like any good doting parents we were ready with a nice pile of presents, a cake and ice cream. Tim wanted to have a party wih the neighborhood dogs but since most of them are only puppies I said that would be a bad idea. The neighbor came over as she was outside at the time. My mom had brought over a present earlier in the week but she said he could play with it immediately so it didn’t get wrapped.

We bought a sign and a balloon to put out front and I got to draw the sign myself (note to self next time start earlier so you can buy premade from the Party store). We put the presents next to the sign and brought out the cake and candle on a paper plate. I must have done a good job on the cake as Boris wasn’t really interested in the presents, just licking crumbs out of the grass. He scarfed it down in about three gulps and almost didn’t eat the Yoghund before it melted into a puddle.

Officially Boris got a Hyper Dog bat/ball thingy, a bag of tennis balls, two Hyper Dog wooden retreival dummies, and a Ruff Wear backpack. He also got a retractable leash and a large Hyper Dog stick but they didn’t get wrapped as they were immediate needs.

His birthday cake was a carob/peanut butter/blueberry cake with peanut butter frosting. We bought a “1″ candle to stick in it but we didn’t light it. The recipe came out like fluffy cookies and made enough for six “pupcakes” and one heart pan for Boris.

Yummy Yogurt

Shaws mailed us a coupon flyer for their Wild harvest section which includes organic products and the like.  One was for Yöghund which is an organic yogurt treat for dogs. We decided to give it a try as it was about the same price with the coupon as our normal Frosty Paws (and better for them). It comes in two flavors bananna&peanut butter and blueberries&vanilla. We picked the one with peanut butter of course. They come in cute little mini-pint containers with plastic tops. Very adorable and the boys both seemed to like them. There was much hoarding and plenty of licking. Afterwards they tore the continers to shreds. They are made right over in Exeter which is even cooler as buying them supports a local business.
