Happy Birthday Boris!

By Angela W Posted in Daily Life / No Comments »

Sunday July 13, 2008 was Boris’s first birthday. Like any good doting parents we were ready with a nice pile of presents, a cake and ice cream. Tim wanted to have a party wih the neighborhood dogs but since most of them are only puppies I said that would be a bad idea. The neighbor came over as she was outside at the time. My mom had brought over a present earlier in the week but she said he could play with it immediately so it didn’t get wrapped.

We bought a sign and a balloon to put out front and I got to draw the sign myself (note to self next time start earlier so you can buy premade from the Party store). We put the presents next to the sign and brought out the cake and candle on a paper plate. I must have done a good job on the cake as Boris wasn’t really interested in the presents, just licking crumbs out of the grass. He scarfed it down in about three gulps and almost didn’t eat the Yoghund before it melted into a puddle.

Officially Boris got a Hyper Dog bat/ball thingy, a bag of tennis balls, two Hyper Dog wooden retreival dummies, and a Ruff Wear backpack. He also got a retractable leash and a large Hyper Dog stick but they didn’t get wrapped as they were immediate needs.

His birthday cake was a carob/peanut butter/blueberry cake with peanut butter frosting. We bought a “1″ candle to stick in it but we didn’t light it. The recipe came out like fluffy cookies and made enough for six “pupcakes” and one heart pan for Boris.

Just Keep Swimming

By Angela W Posted in Daily Life, Pictures, Puppy TV / No Comments »

Since its summer finally, its really hot out. We drug the boys down to the river to go swimming and fetch sticks. I had originally just intended for Cherokee to stay on his leash with his nice new collar and stay out of trouble, but I ended up just taking it off an letting him run about like a dork.

The tide was out when we got there and slowly came in which was nice to some degree. There were lots of fish and crabs which was ok, but rather obnoxious as they kept crawling over my feet and nipping my legs. Which I got on tape…because life is just like that.

Boris on the other hand had oodles of fun running through the mud, fetching sticks (although his retrieve is less than stellar outside still) and swimming with Cherokee, who refused to get out of the water unless he had to. Cherokee swam in circles between sticks if we let him, it was hilarious. He’s never been that excited about swimming, but I imagine it felt good to his legs. Something tells me hydrotherapy has just made it onto the weekly to-do list.

I got some great shots of Boris and Cherokee enjoying themselves in the almost two hours we were out there. Well worth the sunburn on my shoulders from forgetting sunscreen yet again. Got some videos as well which will be added to the video page. Be warned Bo isn’t cute anymore. He’s a monster and towers taller and heavier than Cherokee does. Ok, so he’s still cute, but its in a larger than life kind of way.

And I made this super cute badge on Flickr when I uploaded the pictures. I will work on uploading some here later but for now its took forever to do it there and organize them. *ok so its not quite as cute as I’d hope. Apparently WP doesn’t allow for Flash usage. Bleck.

Fleeced Again

By Angela W Posted in Daily Life / No Comments »

Today while I was listing our used puppy supplies on Craigslist I decided to include my homemade fleece toys which required me making a fleece ring thingy. Its rather cute though and Bo absolutely adores it. He spent about an hour devouring it and begging me to play fetch. Tim thinks 18 tassels isn’t enough, I think he’s nuts. Bo sides with Tim of course. But so long as Bo likes it.

Hot Dog

By Angela W Posted in Daily Life / No Comments »

Well its finally SUMMER and the temperatures have been climbing steadily between thundershowers too quick to cool things off. Bo isn’t exactly a fan of the heat. I can’t imagine how much he would have liked Mississippi as its just as hot and more humid there where we have a slightly dryer heat (although not completely being on the water). We put the AC in the bedroom and hid out there the past couple days until dark when it got a bit better. Needless to say there has been plenty of hosing off the dog and trying to convince him to play in the sprinkler.

Rough Life

Bruised But Better

By Angela W Posted in Daily Life / No Comments »

Well Bo’s foot is almost healed. Well its at least halfway healed and the dewclaw looks oodles better. Its been unwrapped for awhile and he hasn’t pulled it back open in a couple days. He’s really starting to feel the heat and loves laying on the linoleum in the kitchen or in the tub. We put in a flower bed over the weekend and he’s decided we can’t water the flowers unless we water him too. We’ll take a video on a nice day to share. We’d love to send it into AFHV as well. Its wicked funny.

Quickie Bo-boo Update

By Angela W Posted in Daily Life / No Comments »

Bo is healing ok. He’s been getting his paw wrapped and bandage and a bootie on top for some time now. He managed to hurt his dewclaw tearing off the bootie, but we left the bandages off for the past couple days and its been better. It seems to nothave liked being wrapped up. We called the vet today to tell them his heartworm post card arrived early (they have his birthday wrong) and asked about it, and they sid it sounds just fine which is good. We’d really rather not bring him in for stitches if we can. Soon enough he’ll be better though.
