The Vittles Vault

We have our spare 40lb Pro Plan container full of dog food as well out in the living room. Its mostly wet food and weighs a ton at this point. We had more but recently got around to mixing and filling the boy’s regular containers. We used 4 bags of Goodlife (2 puppy, 2 adult) and two bags of Organic food (1 puppy, 1 adult) and a couple bags of Iams (1 puppy, 1 weight loss adult) and a bag of senior Nutro to make a nice mixture. Kind of looks like cereal with all the different shapes and colors. Cost about $20 for 40lbs. Still left are:

2-8lb bags of Pro Plan (1 puppy, one senior weight management)

6-lg cans Science Diet (2 puppy, 3 senior)

4-huge cans Alpo Chop House

1-can Mighty Dog

1-pouch Nutro

17-tubs of Beneful (BOGO sets)

We saw the BOGO sets of Beneful at Walmart and immediately started snapping them up. Two tubs for 1.57 is pretty good and Cherokee adores them when he’s not feeling well. Of course now that we have so many Tim has started sneaking more wet food into dinners.  And they say moms spoil their kids, lol.

Why I Love Coupons

By Angela W Posted in Budget / No Comments »

Last weekend was another great shopping week. Dog chow was still on clearance 50% off 4.49 plus we still have $4 off coupons. Which means we got 1.75 per bag to use on the rest of our shopping. This week it paid for ground beef, last week it paid for a new razor for Tim and juice. They are finally out though.

After shopping at our normal store we went next door to pick up corned beef (.99/lb cheapest anywhere) and found the sale started the next day instead. We did find clearance chews and a better selection of Alpo cans (BOGO coupon).  And better prices on IAMS weight loss. So for $6 we got 5 Beggin chews (the big ones), a bag of IAMS, and four cans of Alpo. The cashier kept giggling.

We’ve got to put shelves in the spare room to hold the stockpile of treats and food. Not that its a bad thing. Boris certainly isn’t complaining about the extra treats

This weekend we purchased over $40 worth of food and treats for only $10 and change.  In fact its very rare we spend the full amount on food between Purina coupons, Petco coupons, and B10G1 at Petco. But this weekend we did even better than normal.

We Started with$1 off Snausages, 2-$3 off Pro Plan, 2-$4 off Purina One, and 1-$4 off Dog Chow.

Went grocery shopping, checked dog food prices and picked up an Iams mailer with 1-$8 off, 3-$6 off, B2G1 biscuits, B3G1 cans, 1-$5 off cat food.

Went to Target bought Snausages for $1.79-$1 off =.79 and Iams puppy for $8.43-$8 off=.43cents

Target total=1.22

Went to Walmart bought Puppy Chow for $3.96-$4 off=-.04

Walmart total=-0.04

Went to Petco and picked up a $5.99 off Whole Meals coupon. Bought two Purina One Naturals canisters for $4.76×2=9.52-$4-$4=1.52 a Whole Meals bag $5.99-$5.99=0 and a bag of Pro Plan Puppy $11.99-$3 off plus a 10% off coupon

Petco total=9.46

Total=$10.64 for 41.68 worth of food or roughly 74.5% off

With coupons leftover and more to print and some rebates for next week when I get paid.  Which makes for a happy spoiled puppy.
